Cornflower Earrings

Regular price $75.00

The earrings for the day you just want to feel like yourself.

You know the outfit. Your favorite jeans, a soft tee, and just enough of something pretty to remind you that you chose yourself today. That is exactly what these earrings are for.

A French blue vitreous enamel base, the color of a clear sky just after breakfast, carries a soft whisper of cream sifted lightly across the surface. Partial flower petals emerge through the blue, not fully revealed, just hinted at, the way beauty tends to show up when you are not forcing it.

The marquise shape is slender and graceful. Lightweight enough to forget you are wearing them. Pretty enough that someone will notice.

These are your everyday earrings. The ones you reach for without thinking. The ones that make a simple day feel a little more like yours.

Handcrafted with gratitude. Worn with intention.

  • vitreous enamel on copper, kiln fired
  • French blue base with cream sifted overlay
  • lightweight enough to wear all day without a second thought.
  • sterling silver ear wires

I first made these on a quiet morning when I just needed something simple and beautiful to work on. The French blue went down first, and when I sifted the cream enamel through the stencil, the petals appeared almost like they were already there, waiting. Sometimes the best things in life are like that. You do not force them. You just show up, and there they are. -Dawn

FAQ

What is vitreous enamel?

Vitreous enamel is an ancient art form that sits right at the intersection of science and beauty, which is probably why I fell in love with it.

The process begins with copper sheet metal, carefully cut into shapes by hand. Finely powdered glass in a range of colors is then applied to the metal in layers and fired in a kiln at 1,450 degrees Fahrenheit. Each layer fuses to the one before it, building depth, richness, and color that simply cannot be replicated any other way.

From the first cut of metal to the finished piece, the process involves 20 or more individual steps. There are no shortcuts to that kind of beauty.

Occasionally I source pre-cut copper shapes rather than sawing them myself, but every step from that point forward is done entirely by hand in my studio.

The result is jewelry that is not just worn. It is carried. Each piece holds layers of intention, craft, and heat-forged color that will last a lifetime.

What is Fine Silver?

Fine silver is a form of silver that is 99.9% silver. It doesn't tarnish as fast as sterling silver.

What is Sterling Silver?

Sterling silver is a metal alloy containing 92.5% silver. The remaining portion is usually copper which makes it more stable but also makes it tarnish faster than fine silver.
